Welcome to Ludos lekotek
Ludos was born from my personal experience as a mother of two and from my journey into parenthood.
Play, in the Montessori approach, is the child’s natural way of learning.
Through hands-on exploration, repetition, and freedom of choice, children develop independence, concentration, and confidence.
Materials are thoughtfully designed to match their developmental stage, inviting them to engage deeply and discover the world at their own pace.
This approach resonated with me and with what I was expiriencing with my kids.
Play, for us, became a way to connect, to observe, and to grow together.
Over time, I noticed something important.
Even with a home full of thoughtful, beautiful toys, my children didn’t need more—they needed less, but better. Too many options often led to distraction, while fewer, well-chosen materials invited deeper focus and more creative exploration.
That’s when I started introducing toy rotation.
I began putting some toys away and reintroducing them after a while. And each time, it felt like they were discovering them all over again. The same materials sparked new curiosity, new ideas, and longer, more meaningful engagement. Our home felt calmer, more intentional—and play became richer for all of us.
This experience planted the seed for Ludos.
I wanted to make this approach accessible to other families—not just as a way to reduce clutter, but as a way to support children’s development while also making more sustainable choices. Instead of constantly buying new toys, why not share them? Why not create a system where high-quality materials can circulate between families, extending their life and value?
This is how Ludos was born: as a toy library designed around intentional play, sustainability, and the real needs of growing children.
But Ludos is more than a toy library.
At its heart, it is a community.
A space for families who value mindful play, who are curious about their children’s development, and who want to connect with others on a similar journey.
Through play sessions, shared experiences, and learning opportunities, Ludos creates moments where both children and parents can feel inspired, supported, and seen.
Looking ahead, Ludos continues to grow.
Because Ludos is not just about toys.
It’s about creating a more intentional way of living with children.
It’s about sustainability, community, and connection.
And most of all, it’s about growing together through play.
My Story
Hi, I’m Alissa Valsangiacomo, founder of Ludos.
I moved to Malmö from Switzerland with my husband in 2022, I’m a mother of two—a 4-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son.
I speak Italian, Swiss German, English, and French, and I’m currently learning Swedish—something that has been part of my own journey of growth alongside my children.
My approach to parenting is deeply inspired by Montessori principles and gentle parenting. I’m passionate about creating meaningful play experiences, observing children’s natural development, and supporting their independence through simple, intentional environments.
Becoming a mother also set me on a profound personal journey of reflection and self-discovery. I realized that my children are constantly observing me—absorbing not what I say, but how I act and how I interact with the world around me. Especially in the early years, there is little to “teach” them directly; they simply take in what they see and repeat it. This understanding inspired me to explore my own values, habits, and ways of being, shaping both the parent I want to be and the environment I want to create for them.
You are warmly welcome to this space,
Alissa
